It was also very easy to install. Boy, did it blow my socks off. I just picked this printer up, because it was pretty inexpensive. I just plugged it in, and Windows 7 did the rest. As far a print quality goes, this was very good. I gave old pictures to family members for Christmas, and they all enjoyed them thoroughly. Overall, a very good quality, low priced product. I also enjoy the Vivera inks that can be bought individually instead of all in one cartridge.
I love my old HP Photosmart 8250 but it stopped working. I was happy to havean opportunity to order another for a reasonable price, but when I set it up (it did not come with a power cord, so I used my own) it had a very similar problem to theother one. I have not yet asked Amazon how I should deal with this since it wasordered from a third party.
FIRST Ink failure error which was not a hardware problem as told to me by HP support, I found the answer on an online forum. STUPID ME I went and got another HP that took the same type of cartridge(only I bought the store warranty at bestbuy this time) and the same problems occurred within a 9 months so after a bit of a fuss and annoying the manager at BESTBUY until he got tired of me, I exchanged it for a different HP (c4680) because they are NOW making NEW PRINTERS with the OLD TYPE of print heads that you clean directly and that do not have internal heads GEE I WONDER WHY THEY WENT BACK TO ARCHAIC PRINT HEADS. I went Through 3 HP 8250 printers in the first 3 months. THEN It stopped printing black ink 2 days after my warranty ran out so they suggested for me to buy a NEW PRINTER. HP YOU StinK. NEXT the rollers would not feed paper through. I STILL have my old HP PRINTER deskjet 932c (going on 10 years and still kicking) and you clean the ink cartridge head, HOWEVER, on NEWER PRINTERS the print head is inside the printer and you cannot get to it so you need a cleaning kit that (DOES NOT WORK) I cleaned it and inserted the special fabric with solution and followed their instructions and it worked again for about one week, so I had to clean it again and it worked for another week and I could not afford to keep paying $15.00 a week for a new cleaning kit TOO EXPENSIVE.
OH and I bought the warranty on this printer, too. Multiple issues. BECAUSE THEY WORK thats why. I had to apply hairspray to the roller to get it to pull paper because the roller resurface kit they sent me did not work. I spent $399.99 on this printer WHAT A RIP OFF. IF THIS ONE STARTS ACTING UP - I am getting a CANNON -ONLY TIME WILL TELL. YOU BAD.DONT WASTE YOUR TIME and MONEY ON THIS PRINTER.
It's great if you only want it to last 10 months before becoming unrepairable. Spent days trying to download suggested fixes only to be told by their service department that it could not be fixed. I never even used up the first box of photo paper. Will never by HP again.
The photos are nice, but I am not able to print black only text if one color cartridge is out. The LCD is really a dumb idea, as well as the built in card reader. We blow through the color cartridges very quickly and to replace them isn't horrible if it's one at a time, but to do a few at a time is pricey. This would be great as a dedicated photo printer, but has too many limitations for me. I never use either. The thing that annoys me the most is it does "maintenance" all the time and holds up printing.
